This OEM IntegratedBMW Rear-View Backup Camera kit fits all 2011-2020 BMW X3 / X3M models with or without navigation. The comprehensive Multimedia Video Interface integrates through a simple plug-in connection to enable the viewing of external video sources such as Backup Camera (provided in kit), front camera and a 3rd DVR input.
You can now upgrade your module to support CarPlay & Android Auto for 2011-2020 BMW X3 that are equipped with CCC, CIC, NBT or EVO systems. This comprehensive video interface module will integrate all the features of Apple CarPlay / Android Auto onto your existing BMW NBT command system. Once installed, the system is ready for use without any dealer activation or coding required and DOES NOT require any cutting or splicing of OEM cables.
The X3 is a case where accurate fitment data matters more than usual, because the first-generation car looks like it should qualify and does not. This kit covers 2011-2020 BMW X3 and X3M models, with or without navigation, integrating a high definition rear camera into the factory iDrive screen. Front camera and third DVR inputs ride along in the same module, and the plug-in installation leaves every OEM cable uncut and unspliced.
Choosing the CarPlay and Android Auto option puts your favorite apps on the original iDrive display in the X3.
An X3 spends its life in parking lots and school pickups, and a factory-integrated camera earns its keep there every single day. The image reaches your original screen through a module wired into the harnesses BMW already routed behind the dash, so nothing in the cabin looks aftermarket.
There is no dealer activation or coding step before first use, and the hardware is warrantied for a full year.
Cars with park distance control get a combined picture-in-picture view of sensors and camera, no matter which of the camera styles below you choose.
Standard Flush Mount Camera - perfect for mounting on the lip above the license plate. It has over 170 degree view of the area behind you and works great in low light.
Adjustable Lens Camera - provides a little more flexibility with the exact angle of its view. This camera is for those who want to mount it their camera in a location other than near the license plate, such as on the spoiler or bumper. It's also recommended if your vehicle is lowered or raised.
Tailgate Handle Camera - gives your vehicle the OEM look. These replace the current handle on the trunk of your vehicle to include the camera as part of the handle itself.
A front camera input rounds out the module, displaying automatically when the X3 leaves reverse and clearing once fifteen seconds go by.
Connections happen wirelessly over Bluetooth, or by the USB cord included in the kit.
Everyday controls stay factory, the OEM buttons handle music, volume, and Siri or Google Assistant requests inside CarPlay, and both iOS and Android phones work.
*If you add the CarPlay and Android Auto option, it is matched to the same command-system choice you make at checkout.
** Both kits come with a the flush mount backup camera by default. If you do not want or do not need a backup camera, choose "none" in the camera option section below. Price will adjust accordingly.**
Coverage starts at 2011 because the earlier E83 X3 never carried an iDrive command system, its optional navigation was the older MK4 unit, which this interface cannot connect to. The supported run begins with the F25, which uses CIC in the 2011 to 2013 cars and NBT from 2013 to 2016. EVO arrives for 2017, and the G01 generation continues with EVO in the 2018 and 2019 cars. In 2020, base-trim X3s retained EVO while trims with the newer MGU-based cockpit fall outside this kit, which is why the range closes at 2020. Identify your system from the screen and controller design rather than the year alone, and send us a photo of the running display if the generation is not obvious.
