Toyota, Scion, and Subaru

Toyota-family vehicles are among the most retrofit-friendly cars on the road, because many factory radios have a camera input waiting behind them. The catch is the connector. Our Toyota-family harnesses come in more than one connector version, commonly a 16-pin and a 24-pin, and they are not interchangeable. Which one your car needs is decided by the radio option, not the model year.

Scion installs have one extra step: models like the FR-S, tC, xB, and xD use an included manual reverse trigger wire that gets connected during installation; the instructions walk you through it.

Subaru deserves special care. The BRZ shares a Toyota-family radio architecture, which makes it the Subaru we support with the most confidence. Other Subaru models commonly tie the compatible connector to the factory navigation radio, while non-nav cars use a different connector entirely. BMW

Mercedes-Benz

Mercedes head units are grouped into NTG generations, and the generation determines what a retrofit can do:

  • NTG4 through NTG5.1: support both backup camera and CarPlay retrofits in our lineup, often added together in one install.
